Jimmy Fallon (playlist)

Since we are on the topic of Books in class heres a classic show tune with a twist. Jimmy Fallon dresses up as Jim Morrison to sing Reading Rainbow. Most of you have no idea what Reading Rainbow was, but it was a show for kids. Jimmy plays on Morrison's persona stating the word "HIGH" on stage which was a contriversal issue on The Ed Sullivan show with The Doors hit "Light my Fire." and instead of rambling poetry Jimmy Fallon rambles book titles.

Consumers as Advertisers

Instead of using commercials and advertisements on webpages as marketing mechanisms, companies are now using consumers as advertisement. On Pinterest, people can go to a website, like American Eagle for example, "Pin" a piece of clothing to their board on pinterest and create a link back to American Eagles wesbite, allowing others to go look and purchase this clothing. All the work is put in by the consumer and it takes the company no effort.

LG clever advertising

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghRji9ZKOl0

This is an example of how companies have adapted to modern day media. LG have created this viral youtube video and cleverly placed their logo at the end. The video is great because it makes you watch it multiple times and its cheap to produce.

The media's manipulative influence over your morals

I think this is interesting and true video. It is targeted mainly on females, but I think males are influenced as well in terms how they see women. They expect them to be like females they see in mass media. And of course, it applies the other way around as well. I am just wondering if there ever will be something else people must have to be perfect or is this ultimate?

A Day of Glass

Is this where our world is headed? Is integrating technology into every facet of our lives a good thing? This video not only explores the possibility of new technologies but makes one question, how much is too much technology?

What Is Social Media?

I really find interesting this video because it describes exactly what it is happening.
It talks about how social media can increase profits in a business. For this reason, I like when it says "You can't just say it. You have to get the people to say it to each other".

Music for the Open-Minded

The New York Times just did an article about Timbre, a free music app. I didn't think music apps were a big deal since everyone has easy access to them, so I read more about it. Timbre is actually designed so that it can't be personalized--the whole idea is for people to find out what concerts are going around in their area, not just the music they like. Based on your location, Timbre tells you what concerts are playing and gives you a 30 second preview of a song (so long as it's on iTunes). It's similar to something like Songkick, but the idea is to get more people to listen to different types of music and expand their horizons, instead of only discovering concerts for the music that they're interested in.
