Google competes with Amazon

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/28/google-same-day-delivery-san-francisco_n_2970754.html?utm_hp_ref=technology

Google has been testing "Google Shopping Express"where people involved in the test were able to shop online for items, like using Amazon, only Google promises a same day delivery system that Amazon and other companies do not by working with large retailers like Target and Toys R Us to allow pick up and delivery to the customer's homes that same day.

The concept is still new and Google is debating how much to charge for their service in the future.

This is definitely an example of a potential Oligopoly -- Google is such a massive company that is trying to compete with smaller companies in order to take over their job and purpose.

While I think that Google has a good idea that will appeal to many people, I don't understand what the point is. Why not let other online sales companies like eBay and Amazon serve their purpose like they've been doing for years?

A good thing that can come out of this, however, is that "Google is working with local courier companies that pick up products from local stores and deliver them to shoppers' homes," which supports smaller, local delivery companies.
