Children and Tablets

  1. I think that it is okay to allow children play on their Ipads at dinner table once a while. But, 80% of the time there should be no technology at the dinner table. It's because usually dinner is the only time that the family gets to sit down and eat together. That time should be spent talking with your family.

  2. Im guilty of using technology at the dinner table, but I don't do it regularly and I don't completely zone out others when I do it! I find it really frustrating when I see young children at restaurants with expensive iPads or iPhones in their hands completely absorbed in a game or tv show. I feel as though parents are getting lazy and just want to shut their kids up when really they should learn how to teach their kids how to be respectful in a restaurant without the use of technology. When I was growing up going out to dinner with my parents and sister was a blast! Sure I probably didn't behave 100% of the time, but my parents found a way to deal with it and teach me without throwing technology in my face.I think children can use going out to dinner as a way to interact with others appropriately and technology hinders that experience.
