American Music Awards

In reference to the paper we just wrote about the influence media has in our everyday lives, the AMA`s this year decided to use the Samsung Galaxy Note II to announce the winners instead of the traditional envelopes. This is a prime example of the use of media in our lives, not only were the phones used as an advertisement for Samsung but to "bring the event into a modern era."

Technology meets Law

In a NYT article titled, Consensus Eludes Courts in Search of Cellphones, the author discusses the new problem of "whether and when law enforcement authorities can peer into suspects’ cellphones, and the cornucopia of evidence they provide." This issue has manifested as a result of booming cellular technology meeting U.S. laws for search and seizure. The issue also introduces the element of rights to privacy, all exemplifying the prevalence of the technological boom and the antiquity of the U.S. court system.

On Twitter, Steve Jobs is Immortal

In an article in the NYT, "On Twitter, Steve Jobs is Immortal," the author discusses how despite his death, Jobs' legacy lives on via the social networking site Twitter. His legacy is manifested in trending topics and faux and parody twitter accounts. I found this interesting because of the span of memory twitter users seem to have. Every now and then, a famous individual or topic will reappear and instantly become a trending topic. The speed and frequency with which twitter users are able to get certain items trending is especially impressive. Although this is particularly true for live events, such as the presidential debates, the election, or even the most anticipated Sunday NFL game, the fact that twitter users are able to recharge important figures such as Jobs deems them worthy of mention.

PR teams working with advertisers and sponsor

This is a genius advertisement from Nike following the allegations against Tiger Woods. With every other sponsor dropping Woods, Nike (presumably along with Tigers PR team) have created an advert that caused a lot of controversy but ultimately paid of for both them and Woods.
