"Oh My Disney"

According to this article, Disney has begun expanding it's social media foot print. A new website entitled, "Oh my Disney", will incorporate GIFs with inspirational sayings to keep the Disney spirit alive, as well as interactive videos and opportunities for fans to stay involved. Disney has been steadily trying to increase internet fandom since 2009. Do you believe it is necessary for Disney to stay up to date with social media?

  1. I think that this is fine that Disney is trying to stay up to date with social media because technology is improving everyday. If Disney does not keep up with social media, it will 'die' and be 'forgotten'.

  2. Yes and no. Disney is already well known and i think they should keep up to date with social media to a point, but overall they are so advertised and marketed that every family in the United States and other countries know of Disney.

  3. I think it's perfectly fine, not necessary for them. I love Disney and would probably spend too much time looking at the gifs, laughing at memories, but this kind of thing also makes me question how younger generations will view Disney "classics". I know to me my memory of Disney consists of my VHS collection, not a social media site.
