On Twitter, Steve Jobs is Immortal
In an article in the NYT, "On Twitter, Steve Jobs is Immortal," the author discusses how despite his death, Jobs' legacy lives on via the social networking site Twitter. His legacy is manifested in trending topics and faux and parody twitter accounts. I found this interesting because of the span of memory twitter users seem to have. Every now and then, a famous individual or topic will reappear and instantly become a trending topic. The speed and frequency with which twitter users are able to get certain items trending is especially impressive. Although this is particularly true for live events, such as the presidential debates, the election, or even the most anticipated Sunday NFL game, the fact that twitter users are able to recharge important figures such as Jobs deems them worthy of mention.
