Personally I wouldn't be able to last a day, but I think this family has a good point. People are too dependent on money and material things and it's nice to see a family trying to break away from that stigma.
I agree with Sarah. I also believe that many people, without realizing it, allow money take control of their lives. I have friends who spend way too much money without thinking about the pros or cons. Also, I have friends who save all of their money and say that they don't want to spend money. People need to learn to have fun and enjoy what they have in front of them. They need to not let money hold them back from doing things.
I could not live life without money, no one could! Raphael Fellmer even admitted he still uses money here and there. With that being said, I understand the reasoning behind the protest and give him much creditability and respect, but think at that this point in time it could be to late. Its as if a parent gave his/her child permission to eat what ever he or she wanted at a candy story for the rest of his life. Eventually the child would get so used to eating whatever and whenever that it would become routine or a norm. Money is a norm and a necessity but it sure as heck can be limited in house holds that have more than making ends meet. Materialistic things are not NEEDED they are WANTED, and our society thrives on bigger is better. I don't think people will understand a money strike until people started understand money isn't everything.
This article is so inspiring! I wish I was able to be as strong as them and try this kind of lifestyle. Unfortunately, I feel that we the people, have become so dependent on money that it would be almost impossible. In our world today we look up to the million and billionaires and try and strive to be just like them, so we are able to have all the things we want, plus a feeling of comfort and security. My hat goes off to this family, for really getting a hold of what the saying "enjoy the simple things" really means. Great article!
