This is the newest Mercedes commercial starring the ever classy Kate Upton. We all hear the saying "sex sells," but at what point is it unnecessary and ridiculous?
I had only heard about the video and I just finally watched it. The way the articles had described it made the video sound more scandalous than it really was. Mercedes (to me) made an ad that is trying to make fun of the "sex sells" stereotype in advertising. The ad is almost ridiculous in the way it is trying to be "sexy". Overall, I do agree that the media, entertainment, and advertising does use sex as a way to draw in viewers and buyers. However in this case, they use it as a joke.
After watching the video I laughed, I honestly thought that it was going to be over the top and inappropriate to even put on television channels, this really seems to be making fun of the fact that media does use sex to try and sell certain products; but I do not think that this commercial is going to benefit Mercedes selling their new car. In all, media does use sex or sexy things to try and get there product more known, but there needs to be a line drawn at a certain point because there is children, and young adults watching in which these ads are not appropriate for them.
Mercedes just threw millions of dollars in the garbage. After watching the "commercial" I did not even know Mercedes was trying to promote the new car. The main focus of commercial was Kate Upton. On Kate Upton’s part, she was not that bad. I thought she was going to be in a bathing suit and washing the car by herself. It wasn't too bad but, it had no point.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you two. It is just funny because this commercial tells me nothing about the car, itself.
