Facebook making people miserable..

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/22/facebook-study-envy_n_2526549.html?ir=Technology

...A study in Germany has shown that after viewing Facebook, one in three people felt unhappy with their own lives.

I find this article very interesting and even humorous because I personally have had friends tell me that they were having a terrible day, and after logging into Facebook, felt much worse after seeing how awesome everyone else's day was going. From photos to statuses, it doesn't take much to make someone sitting at home doing homework feel envious of your crazy night out with friends and drinks.

This is a perfect example of how strong of an impact social sites like Facebook have on our psyche and wellbeing, whether we acknowledge it or not.

  1. This is so true! I think Facebook causes people to focus too much on how many likes they get or how other people's days have been rather than their own.

  2. I agree, even though I am a user of Facebook and over millions of people world wide are using it too, it is a tad overrated. People seem to post unimportant events that happened in there life such as "walking the dog." Also Facebook seems to cause cyber-bullying that all of the users friends can see. I understand where this article is going by making someone feel more upset after going on. Although this feeling is felt by some people, I do not think that Facebook will be leaving anytime soon. The best advice to give for this article would be to unfriend the people who cause you to feel more upset when getting on just to see how other peoples day is going, or be the few that can delete their Facebook for good.
