Should there be a US law against too thin models?  There is now in Israel.  Read the article and post your thoughts.

  1. As someone who has personally dealt with this issue, I think that there should be regulations placed in the modeling industry. Nowadays, girls can begin eating disorders as early as 10 years old. As a society, we are very much influenced by the media whether we realize it or not. This is especially true within the young population. Young girls look up to celebrities and supermodels as a standard of beauty, and they proceed to aspire to be like them in every way possible. This leads to a negative self image and to dangerous eating habits. By using dangerously thin models, fashion companies are indirectly advocating a negative self image and eating disorders. If fashion companies were given a minimum BMI for the models that they use, positive role models could be more common in the modeling industry and hopefully there would be less of a desire to weigh a dangerously low weight.

  2. Doesn't that mean that there would also have to be a law on being too fat??
